The sculpture commission began with the creation of a working maquette. This 2' long Terra Cotta study was created by using a live model.

The sculpture has 4 stone elements. The first to be carved was the leg and foot. The stone block was 14'L x 4'W x 3'H and weighed 36,000 lbs.

Large pieces of waste stone were removed with the hydraulic chain saw.
